Bangor City 1876 clinched a league and cup double by winning the FAW Amateur Trophy.
The Ardal North West champions beat in-form Pontardawe Town 3-1 in Saturday’s final at Park Avenue in Aberystwyth.
Michael Johnston’s side were rewarded for their bright start when Josh Carey’s cross was headed in by Declan McManus after 12 minutes.
The City forward needed treatment after a clash of heads with keeper Steffan Jenkins, resulting in a lengthy 16-minute delay.
Once the game resumed, keeper Carl Jones made two fine saves to deny Pontardawe’s Jesse Meacock and Sam Harrison from restoring parity going into the break.
Bangor doubled their lead midway through the second half when a foul on Carey led to skipper Corrig McGonigle’s set piece being tipped onto the bar before centre half Adam Long pounced from the rebound.
McGonigle himself twice tested Pontardawe keeper Nat Osborne but it was Tom Creamer who deftly slotted home Bangor’s third from another assist by Carey after 79 minutes.
Pontardawe, who were Trophy runners-up in 2019, pegged back a goal in stoppage time via sub Jake Barrow, but it was too late to deny Bangor from clinching a second piece of silverware.
City are still in contention for a treble this season - next month, they take on Ardal North East champions CPD Llanuwchllyn in the final of the Ardal North League Cup at Y Traeth, Porthmadog.
In the meantime, the league campaign concludes with a home game against Penmaenmawr Phoenix on Wednesday followed by next Sunday’s trip to Pwllheli.
