An inquest has been opened and adjourned after a student drowned in a lake in Eryri last month.
The body of Mahammed Naim Islam from Tower Hamlets, East London, was found in Llyn Glaslyn on Sunday 27th September, a day after he was reported missing.
Underwater search teams and the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were among those involved in the search operation.
North West Wales coroner Kate Robertson told the hearing that the 20 year-old got into difficulty in the water after walking to the lake with his brother.
The provisional cause of death was drowning although investigations are continuing - and the hearing at Caernarfon was adjourned until a later date.
Shortly after his death, Mr Islan's family described him as "a bright and remarkable young man with a promising future ahead of him."
In a tribute statement, they said: "He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a cherished friend whose kindness and character touched the lives of all who knew him."
"His untimely passing has left his family, friends, and wider community heartbroken. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, the memories he created, and the positive impact he had on those fortunate enough to cross his path."
