A 65 year-old man has been charged with wounding following an alleged assault in Trefor.

Another man was seriously injured following an incident at an address on Hen Ysgol at around 6pm on Friday evening.

Police confirmed on Monday that Steven Parry was arrested and later charged with wounding with intent and possessing a knife in a private dwelling.

He was remanded in custody by Llandudno magistrates and will appear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday 23rd November.

A second man arrested in connection with the alleged assault has been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Police patrols have been maintained in the area for reassurance purposes and detectives have urged the public to avoid speculation or posting anything online that could prejudice legal proceedings.

Earlier, Detective Sergeant Jones of Western CID said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and so there will continue to be a visible police presence in the area...however, we would like to reassure residents that there is no wider risk to the public."

“We are aware of speculation circulating on social media regarding the incident. We would encourage members of the public not to speculate as this can cause unnecessary concern and may impact ongoing investigations."

Anyone with information should contact North Wales Police on 101 or the live web chat, quoting reference no. 26000871650.
