A Nant Peris man has been jailed after he was caught trying to speak to young girls on social media.
Elwyn Jones (64) sent indecent images to a fake online profile, posing as a 13 year-old girl, last November.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard the 64 year-old did not know the profile was a decoy and was arrested.
Jones admitted adttempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, along with three counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs and a further charge of distribution.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornography and a prohibited image of a child.
Jones was sentenced to three years in prison and given a sexual harm prevention order for ten years - his name will also be on the sex offenders' register for life.
Detective Constable Megan Roberts from North Wales Police said: "Jones has proved himself to be a danger to children by attempting sexualised communication with a young girl."
"It is lucky on this occasion that this was a decoy profile and that no child became victim to his predatory behaviour. We remain committed to protecting all young people from those who attempt to abuse them."
