The inquests have been opened into the deaths of two kayakers who went missing from Pwllheli.
A major search operation was launched after police raised concerns for Connor Parfitt (24) and Simon Wilson (34), who disappeared from the beach at Hafan y Môr on 21st July.
The pair had been spotted entering the water in inflatable kayaks but they were only reported missing two days later.
Mr Parfitt's body was found washed up on the beach at Llanfarian, near Aberystwyth, five days later and Mr Wilson's body was found in the water at Llwyngwril near Dolgellau a week after he disappeared.
Sarah Riley, assistant coroner for North West Wales, told the Caernarfon hearing that post-mortem examinations were carried out last week but the cause of their deaths remains unknown, pending the results of toxicology tests.
Mr Wilson lived at the Hafan y Môr holiday park where he worked as a cleaner, while Mr Parfitt, from Blackpool, also worked as a cleaner.
The hearing was adjourned while investigations continue.
