Plans have been unveiled for a major shake-up of bus services across Anglesey and Gwynedd.

Transport for Wales (TfW) has launched an eight-week public consultation after a proposed new bus network for the North was approved.

It's expected to be introduced in 2028 as part of a new franchising model, which will see the Welsh Government take over control from private operators such as Arriva.

TfW, which will implement the changes, says the reforms aim to deliver more reliable services, fairer bus fares and simpler ticketing & timetables.

A series of drop-in sessions will be held across the region during September, including freshers' events at colleges and universities.

Lee Robinson, TFW's executive director for regional transport, said: “Buses play a vital role in connecting people and communities in Wales, but we know there are opportunities for improvement."

“Through bus franchising we want to deliver better connections, more frequent services, simpler timetables and fares by 2030."

“We’re now asking communities across North Wales to help shape these plans. By taking part in our public engagement, people can help us build a bus network that works better for passengers now and into the future.”

The new network, co-designed by TfW and local authorities including Anglesey and Gwynedd councils, shows routes and frequencies that services could take, along with suggested improvements that could be achieved with existing funding.

Among the proposed changes, there would be extra services on the existing Bangor - Holyhead route via Llangefni while services between Amlwch and Bangor would be consolidated into one, as would services between Llangoed and Bangor.

All Holyhead Town services would be consolidated into one while new 'Fflecsi' zones would be created in the Beaumaris and North West areas of the island.

• 3-6pm: Menai Bridge Library

Thursday 10th September

• 1-4pm: Tŷ Siamas, Dolgellau

Friday 11th September

• 9-11am: Ganolfan Nefyn
• 11:30am - 1.30pm: Pwllheli Railway Station

Tuesday 15th September

• 10am-2pm: Y Ganolfan, Porthmadog

Wednesday 16th September

• 10am - 12 noon: Amlwch Library

Monday 21st September

• 9:30am - 1pm: Holyhead Library
• 3-7pm: Llangefni Town Hall

Wednesday 23rd September

• 9.30am - 2pm: Bangor Library
• 4.30 - 7pm: Bangor Railway Station
• All day: Bangor University
