Tributes to 'caring son' killed in A499 crash

A Pwllheli man killed in a two-vehicle crash on the A499 has been named.

Elis Ogilvy-Bardsley was driving a black Ford Fiesta when it collided with a red Audi A3 near Y Ffôr at around 10.10pm on Saturday night.

The 20 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In a tribute, Elis' family described him as "a caring and considerate son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin."

They added: "We will miss watching him laugh, joke and play with his younger siblings who looked up to him and loved the time they spent together having fun."

"He enjoyed spending time with his friends, travelling and supporting the Wales and Man United football teams."

Elis, who lived with his parents, younger sister and brother, worked at Asda in his hometown for nearly four years and had been accepted to Bangor University, where he was preparing to study Media.

His family said: "We will forever miss how he lit up every room, how people would gravitate toward him and that he was always the life and soul of the party."

"We are heartbroken that Elis has been tragically taken from us. Our lives have been changed forever as a family. We ask that our privacy is respected as we come to terms with our loss."

Dwyfor Meirionydd MP, Liz Savile Roberts, said she met with Elis' family at their home on Tuesday.

In a further tribute to Elis, she said: "It is clear that his loss has touched people across our community...no words can ease the pain they are enduring but their strength, love and pride in Elis will stay with me."

"My thoughts and the thoughts of so many in Llŷn and beyond are with Elis’s family, his friends and his colleagues at this unimaginably difficult time."

"This is an extremely challenging period for everyone who knew Elis - none more so than his family. May they find comfort in each other and in the unconditional outpouring of love from the community where Elis grew up and worked."

North Wales Police said officers were contnuing to support his family.

A spokesperson for Asda in Pwllheli said: "Elis had been part of the Asda Pwllheli family for nearly four years and was a valued member of our team. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and colleagues here."

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Elis’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

Meanwhile, an investigation is continuing into the crash which led to two people being airlifted to the Royal Stoke Ambulance Hospital while a third was taken by ambulance to hospital.

Emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance and the Coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon, attended the scene which remained closed overnight.
