The skipper of a yacht was taken to hospital after falling ill at Bull Bay.
The RNLI at Moelfre sent out its all weather lifeboat, Kiwi, after being called by the Coastguard at just before 11.25pm on Friday night.
The 24-foot yacht was anchored at Bull Bay after it suffered mechanical issues with winds reaching gusts of up to 40 knots and seas reaching 3 metres.
The lifeboat coxswain made three attempts to bring the ALB alongside the stricken vessel, which was carrying two adults and a child.
The skipper began drifting in and out of consciousness after becoming nauseous and showing ‘worrying symptoms’ - and after returning to the lifeboat station, they were taken by taken by a waiting ambulance to hospital.
The rescue operation just over took two hours while relatives picked up the second adult and child from the boathouse at around 3.30am.
Deputy Coxswain Martin Jones (Bonty) praised the crew’s exceptional efforts under challenging weather and high-pressure conditions, calling it “a very, very good job well done.”
