Emergency services are dealing with a grass fire at Bangor Mountain.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they received a high number of calls about the blaze on Thursday evening.

A NWFRS spokesperson said crews remain at the scene, using beaters and dampening down hotspots to contain the fire.

They added people are urged to avoid the area.

Crews are also still in attendance in Pentrefelin, near Holyhead, as a precaution following a large scrubland fire broke out nearly a week ago.

Earlier, a drought was declared across North Wales - including Anglesey and Gwynedd - in response to a spate of wildfires across the region, successive heatwaves and record low river levels.
